  • Title: Fire & Flood
  • Author: Victoria Scott
  • AR Points: 14
  • Genre: Dystopian/Science Fiction
  • Page I'm On: done
I have been told to read this book multiple times since it came out. It's a pretty great book, I'll admit! Fire & Flood is set in a dystopian world similar to The Hunger Games, Maze Runner, or Legend series. About a 150 people are competing at a chance to win the Cure for their loved one. They must go through four difficult tests of survival. They are simply abandoned in these locations and given two weeks to get to base camp. Anyone who doesn't arrive in that time, we have to assume, is left to die in that location. They are given one huge advantage to help them accomplish these near-impossible tasks. Each contender is given an egg at the beginning of the race. Inside the egg is a Pandora, a genetically-engineered creature that has strange and different powers that come in handy for their contender.

  • Title: Looking for Alaska
  • Author: John Green
  • AR Points: 11
  • Genre: realistic fiction
  • Page I'm On: done
This book is very interesting in the way it is organized. Instead of the different parts of the book being divided by chapters, Looking for Alaska is separated into "days before". Every new section is labeled with this instead of a chapter name or number. The numbers continue to decrease until we are confronted with the climax of the story, an important event that I don't want to give away because it will ruin the story. This is a great book about teenagers and the choices they make. What's really great about this book is the philosophical questions that are posed throughout it. There are two quotes that play a large role in the story: "I go to seek a Great Perhaps" and "How will we ever escape this labyrinth of suffering?". Again, I don't want to give anything away, so if you like a book written similar to diary entries and want a little bit of a mystery or philosophical read? Check this one out!

The Ruby Circle (book 6 of The Bloodlines)

  • Title: The Ruby Circle
  • Author: Richelle Mead
  • AR Points:
  • Genre: fantasy/vampires
  • Page I'm On: done
I was so sad to see this book end because it's the last in the series. I really hope she makes another side series! :( In the Ruby Circle Sydney & Adrian's marriage is taking a toll because others are very unaccepting of their relationship. In addition, at the end of the last book, they had just found out Jill, the sole heir to the Moroi throne had gone missing. In this final book, Sydney & Adrian race to find & save Jill before the Moroi people realize that she is gone, which would give them plenty of reasons to dethrone Lissa.
